Question:
i have a toyota corolla 88' model, ae92, and the problem is, the revs drop when the car is stopped, for a long time and in 'drive'. like at a long set of lights, the longer you leave it in drive without the car moving, the revs will start to drop. i have changed the spark plugs, plug leads, oil, oil filter, took it to a carburator specialist, and said it wasn't the carby. i have also raised the revs by hand, so the car wouldn't turn off. but other than that, for short drives the car is fine? anyone had this problem before?

What would cause too much fluid pressure in my automatic gm transmission, making oil leak out the front seal?
It sounds like the anti-diesel dashpot is leaking. It is an electro-vacuum pot on the side of the carb, on the opposite side of where the throttle cable connects. With the engine running, it holds the throttle open slightly via vacuum to keep the engine running. When the engine is shut off, the pot releases completely cutting off all the air which stops the engine from running on when hot. Pull the vacuum hose off and connect another hose to it. Apply vacuum to the put with a vacuum pump, or just suck the air out of the hose manually. The pot should hold vacuum. If it slowly releases, change the pot. There are 2 pots on these carbs, check them both.
