In a ford explorer, there is a very weird ticking noise which comes on every once in a while. Anyone have any idea what It should be? Its inside the car in the dashboard.

Make sure its not a motor noise, some motor ticks can come and go. If not a motor tick, it could be anything under the dash, maybe a relay tick. If you buy a chevy you might have to replace and engine and tranny at the same time like a friend of mine had to do right after he bought his S10. As for the ticking noise I'm not really sure. need more information.Does it happen when the car is on or off, idle or driving, hot or cold, accelerating, decelerating, cruising...air conditioning on or off, heat on or off, what year explorer is it, is it an auto or manual transmission, is it four wheel or two wheel drive. If you give me a vin number, my husband can run it...to see if there are any technician bulletiens. He works for Ford.
