Question:
years ago i bought a "chip" for my 9000t 91' i bought it from a guy on ebay for over 300.00 it was not the red box. i had to change a chip under the drivers seat, and one in the engen compartment, then do a adaptation run uphill w/ weight in the trunk, to teach it how to boost. the guy told me this was a euro modification. anyway the thing worked like a champ, bosted better, w/ a raw hp sound. my guess would be a 40hp gain. the car has blow a head gasket 80k later, and coppled w/ leaking heater core, broken windshild, and other things, the result is ebay parts car. i am trying to find out what this mod is called so i can list it properly. any help would be great. thanks john

Does Ziebart remote starters void warranty and cause future car problems?
John what you have is a 900 SPG board, the red box is a myth, sorry but the red box was due to a change in vendors of the cases for the ECU. The chip under the hood is the APC chip from an SPG / Aero computer. All very good parts and very desirable to have. The "teaching" part was not really necessary and only served to check fuel cut off in an "over boost" situation. The parts you purchased are no longer available through Saab since all OBD ll systems are flash-able and the need is fading. Your market will be for someone such as why you bought them, someone that wants to "upgrade" their standard turbo to SPG / Aero performance. We "tweak" the old boxes all the time. Oh, one more thing. If your engine happens to have the RED injectors, add those to the auction as they are high flow units and should go with the package. If they are the YELLOW ones they're stocks and throw them in if you wish just don't hype them. Sorry to hear of another Saab passin' on, but eventually they all do.
