Question:
While 0-60 in 7 seconds for a 4 cylinder is good, for a Sports car, thats a horrible time. Sure they fixed this up with GXP, but that's not the point, GM ruined a sports car with a 4 cylinder engine, just like they did with some firebirds in the early 80's.
Pontiac has a good 3.5 liter V6 that they use in the G6, which actually gets the same gas milage, but produces 224 HP. With this engine in the Solstice (which weighs 500 lbs less) could get great 0-60 time
And why does the Solstice/Sky weight so much, a Kia Spectra, a 4 door sedan (with many standard features, which add alot of weight) only weighs a 100lbs more, and boasts, 2 more seats, and 2 more automatic doors, and a good sized trunk. My only guess is that the Solstice/Sky are weighed down to increase stability and manuvering.
I'm not bashing the Solstice, I really do like the car, but the standard model, I'm just realizing is kind of disapointing

Should I buy one of the new Toyota Yaris'?
the solstice is a new model, give GM time to refine it, you will see a 6 in it shortly and down the road a V8 is not out of the question, there is already a co. in Calif. that will put in the Z06 engine and drivetrain in it for another $30,000.What do you guys think of the new 2008 avenger?
Well, the main reason its soo heavy is for the fact to protect the driver and passenger's heads with that so called roll bar behind the seats. Let alone all the other features them things might have. What is the milage of honda dio?
They have a GXP version that's turbocharged that's plenty fast. The base model is not meant to be fast. It's supposed be along the lines of a miata. Nimble and fun to drive. I have a feeling you pretty much just read this out of Car and Driver. Have you actually driven one? If you want a fast nimble 2 seater, look at maybe an s2000.Because it is impossible for an American car maker to design a decent, lightweight sports car that could possibly cost under $50,000
Ford F250 2 wheel drive to 4x4 conversion PLEASE HELP!?
its a car for people that want the look of a sports car but cant afford the high price. and its much better going with a 4cyl. less power on a base model but so much easier to make much faster. 4cyl now are what v8's were back in the 60s.How much would it actually cost to rebuild a Ford 5.4 Triton v/8 engine?
The main reason is that, in general, GM sucks!I'm trying to figure out if the bezels around the A/C vents in my '03 Passat should light up red?
It's a Pontiac Solstice, not a Mazda Miata. Pontiac engineered the Solstice to combine comfort and performance. A Miata, on the other hand, is more strictly performance oriented. So it depends on what you're looking for in a two-seater.WHAT!?! A Miata is performance oriented and the Solstice isn't? Are you high?
Do you like the styling on the 7th gen.(1997-2003) Grand Prix or the 8th gen (2004-07) better?
"Sports cars" are typically light, nimble, well balanced cars. There are some that get 6-12 cylinders, but the Miata was designed to recapture the MG/Triumph idea - a 4 cylinder drop top.
Honda prelude 1989 motor HELP!!?
The Solstice competes in the same arena, so saying one is good because it is a 4 cylinder and one is bad for the same reason doesn't make sense, ya know?

Don't like the power of the base Solstice? Buy the GXP. But the base model is more than some can handle (ask my customer who put one in the guard rail during a second gear burn).
