i have a 1999 volkswagen cabrio and every time i put the key in the ignition it has a weird chime thats loud and doesnt stop unless the key comes out of the ignition. even when i press the spot where the key is supposed to go in it starts to beep..does anyone know of a way to stop this annoying chime?

I am unsure of pulling the fuse is the answer in long run. I know it is appealing but making sure your car is not trying to tell u something is a little more important, i think. No i dont have any of the newer range of cars just T3's so i dont have any annoying chimes.Check the web for more answers first and then do some investigation of car, we all know what low oil results in. Do the basics before U pull the fuse and ignore something that may turn out to be terminal and costly...
But it sounds to me providing that everything else is right with vehicle, that it could be a possible short or other, providing everything else is sweet...

Did you service the engine recently? Maybe the windshield washer fluid is too low or it needs gas. This beeping happened to me and it was low windshield washer fluid. If it's not the engine oil, washer fluid or gas I don't know check with VW service.yes, you can easily disable it by pulling the relay for it. If you look under the dash at the fuse box (this is where it is on jettas, so im going to assume its in the same location) you will see another box next to it, those contain the relays you need to pull., you will see a relay with a speaker type grill on it.. pull it out.. also, it might be easier locating it when it starts beeping.. it also vibrates.. its the peizo buzzer, and that is the only thing on that relay, so you wont have problems with anything else.
