Consumers can buy any one of about 1000 or more vehicles on the market. If they choose to buy a vehicle that is in limited quantity & high demand, then that is their choice.

Ford is not going broke. They are restructuring the company to align with supply & demand. The losses that the company is posting are NOT due to lack of sales. They are offering to 'buy out' peoples jobs, which ia admirable. They could've just fired employees & paid out a lot less in unemployment compensation.

Dealers buy @ wholesale to sell @ retail. This is true of EVERY retail business. Going back to the 'toothpaste' example..a retail store buys the tube @ wholesale price from the manufacturer & sells it @ retail for profit.

and ford does not own the ford dealerships. theyre independantly run. Ford also doesnt get the profits from the dealers. The dealer buys the car from ford at a standard rate, then sells them for whatever they can get for them. Thats how it works.

Right,and Toyota dealers are doing the same thing with FJ and the new Toyota truck has a base price of $2000 more than a GM,Ford or Dodge.As far as I know Chrysler is up for sale. I’m well connected in the car business and I can't even get one for msrp, The best I can get one for is 5k over. You need to start calling places and doing your research if you really want to get close to 5-7k over. The market is hot right now on these cars just like every new car that comes out that enthusiast show interest for. so course your going to see huge mark ups.. there not stupid either so there going to take 100% advantage of the situation.. So it's not just ford dealers that do this to there customers Honda, Chevy , Nissan...ect have done it for years.. Believe me they all do this at some point..
Now you have to take in to account that this car is a little more special than others because of the production run. 8000 of them are going to be made for 2007.
With an increase of 30% for 2008 just to round off 10700 in production and for 2009 who knows?? That is if they don't change the mustang by then with and update or reskin.

Yeah this is called After Dealer Markup or ADM. It's not Ford's fault. They got paid by the dealership. The dealership is asking what they think they can get for the car. You can fully expect the Challenger to have an ADM. For its first year you can expect the Camaro to have it too.OBTW, even the Toyota dealership by me is asking for ADM, but for EVERY NEW CAR on their lot. They are calling it a Market Value Adjustment or something like that. Don't just think its Ford Dealerships that are doing it.

Ford isn't going broke from the deal. Ford sold 10,000 stock vehicals to Shelby, Shelby modified them and then sold the vehicals to the SVT dealers. It's the SVT dealers that would be losing any money on the deal, but they won't because they know some millionare or one of their kids is going to go and buy it without caring about the price. That's the market the SVT dealers are going for. I heard that since they are modified and SVT vehicals are declared racing vehicals, there is no warrenty on SVT products either. That means if the engine falls out or freezes up while driving off the lot, the owner of the vehical will have to pay the cost. The rich don't care about that.More Questions & Answers ...
