4.3 vortec fuel problem?

Question:
can anyone help me on this? i have a 1998 chevy pickup with a vortec 4.3. the problem is it wont get fuel to start up. if i dump gas in the intake it will start and run fine all day, if i shut it off for a short time it will restart and run fine, but if i leave it sit overnight it will not start without dumping gas in the intake. the fuel pump is working fine, it pumps plenty of pressure when i turn the key on.

Fuel pump in the tank is very likely bad. Common on these trucks. Your symptoms are right in line with that. Also be sure to change the fuel pump relay as well as it can limit the voltage to the pump and burn up the new one. Relay is under the hood in the fuse and relay box and just plugs in. Crank sensor would be the other thing that I would check as well as temperature sensor. Both can be checked easy enough before removing the pump if they are causing the trouble..

If it does not have at least 59 psi It will not start if it a cpi injected unit! Could be a bad pump, fuel filter, or leaking injectors.
