I need the code for 99 cadilac escalade?

I put a water pump on my vehicle and now my radio is locked. I don't have a code. I called a local shop and they told me that I would have to bring it in and put it on a machine. I thought I could I just called the dealer with the Vin # and they could give it to me. Does anyone know or experienced this themselves?

Changing a water pump would have no connection to your radio. To get the code, depending on which radio is installed, get the book, there will be a place there to put down the code, read it off the page after reading instructions as to how to put the code in.
