Question:
My friend has the above mentioned truck. It will not start unless you push it off. Have changed the alternator and battery and starter.

Since you have to push it off, then it woudn't be an automatic, and since it's so old, I doubt the neutral safety switch is a factor. As for the ignition switch itself being faulty, that's deffinately a possibility. You should describe what it does when you try to start it with the key. Does it crank, but not start? Or does it even crank at all? It could also be that you got a bad starter from the parts house, god knows it's happened to me plenty of times. I put in the new/rebuilt starter, then find out the starter's solenoid isn't working right. It sucks, but it happens, that's why you get the starters with the warranty.

Could be an ignition switch problem, or if it is an automatic, a neutral safety switch problem. Also, a lot of standard shift cars have switches on the clutch pedal that only let it start if the clutch is pushed in. If that is bad it won't start.
