Question:
I am thinking of detroit locker for my racecar. Do you drive diferently with this? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Answers:
94 pontiac grand am 3.1 v6 why is the air from thepcv suck in not out?
You didn't mention what type of racing but I can saythis--the Detroit Locker is a strong unit as is the 9".
Assuming proper lube etc. you'll never break either
of them and the locker will fit all ratios in the 9 so it's
versatile, again assuming your axle splines remain
the same.
Hard on the gas in the straights and light in the corners. It is a very limited slip rearend.
thats all going to depend if your running a locker now or not and if your on dirt or in the rubber roundy round, and if your running the same track or a circut ,the set will be need to be adjusted for ,say like what i ran a high bank 2/3 mile paved oval, tire stagger will be more radical and if you have it set right for your track you should have to turn the wheel to go straight and she should pitch the nose into the corner on decel so you can come in harder then i used roll throtttle till the apex and hammer it out ,but it really deopends on your current set up if your runnin a locked diff now your not going to experience much diff at all ,if your ruinning a factory limited then yeh alot diffrent ,but i think your expecting what i was and thats was that it would unlock when going in 1and 3 and lock on the exiting ,but mine didnt cause the extreme decel kept it locked and your keeping the r's up with your gear ratio so your above the cam ,so you should never get enough power off to actualy unlock the locker ,you'll notice it in the pits when your trying to squeze in your spot in a hurry toss it in nuetral and shell turn nright in like a open diff ,i hope i helped ,the biggest advantage i saw when it came to pavemnt was breakage ,i expereinced some breakge with spools,if your runnin dirt im sorry im not qualified to give you a good answer ,never ran dirt oval, sorry
