I have a 1972 dart i want to put a 340 in it or shouldi put a 440 in it what should i do.
I have a 1974 duster with a 318
and a 1970 challlenger witha 440 six pack

The 440 block weighs a lot more, what does the 72 Dart have now? If you change to the 340 or 440 from an in-line 6, you'll also need to change the front suspension to take the added weight.
Both the 340 and 440 are nice engines, the 440 is a little more buller proof, the 340 didn't quite live up to the potential of the Ford 302 and 351 and the Chevey 327/350 but it did run okay.

why not bore the 318 to a 340.its only .020 with a .002 bore. as for the 440 it would use up more fuel the just cruse around.
