by and large...yes. But as with ANY car, it depends on how well the vehicle is maintained in its early life as to how dependable it will be in its older life

If you are looking at used, I would be sure to have any car, no matter the brand, inspected by a trusted mechanic to make sure there aren't any hidden problems that might bite you in the short term.

92 ford mustang convertible, i need help w it?

From what I have heard from owners, they are extremely noisey. They rattle the most out of any other vehicle bad enough to make you wonder if it'll get you home or not.

What is your opinion on these two cars?

To give 2 examples. I formerly (8 years) worked in the towing industry. I towed many Saturns to the dealership, but not as many as one would think for a low-end vehicle. In fact, it seemed like very few went in for major repair. The Saturn that surprised me the most was one (SL1) I picked up from a family that purchased it new, put over 300,000 miles on it (speedometer broke after 300,000+, owners estimated 350,000), and was still driving it when someone hit it. Minor damage but of course Insurance company totaled it out. I drove it out of their driveway to my wrecker. Another vehicle was one my neighbor owned (SL1 or maybe SL2?). Her husband was a crack-head who would crackout the car for his drugs. Many different drivers (drive it like you stole it), and I personally witnessed the hubby running from the law in it, thru light ditches and yards. Yet the vehicle (she called it Rubbermaid, no dents) was running fine when she traded it in. Of course, there are always lemons in any vehicle brand, but all things considered, Saturns are quite dependable.
