Time to sit back and learn something. I've worked on many a car and truck, including my own. I've worked on Datsuns you most likely have never seen or heard of. I was still working on Datsun when they changed to Nissan, but it's still the same company. Now I have to be a little strong of word here.Your question leaves a lot to be desired in the information section. First "is this car any good", good for who? Second,"whats it worth?", worth to whom? You don't give any information about the car and that means no info that a person like myself could use as to answer your question. I never could read tea leaves to give a person an answer. What you ask requires a lot of work and a lot of time if you really want to know about a car. For your answer you need to take it to someone who knows about Maxima's. For a short list he'll need about 2 hours and for a complete list about 4 hours should do. And don't take it to AAA if they still check out cars. They never were any good. If you want the list, expect a $400.00 to cover a mechanics time, that is if they know what their doing. But lets do it the easy way. It's now 2007 and the car is 1992 and that makes it 15 years I think making it worth to me $0.00. Unless you have deep pockets, love the car, "o", keep it in your collection, then by all means, get the car....I'm not trying to make fun of you nor use other words that some might say. I never use them. If you like the car, then you must decide its worth, not I. Get a car fax and pay to see the history on the car. For me, I liked the car, but I could fix it and now I can not. To me it's 0.

Yes, I own two. The GXE is durable and fun to drive, but it has a timing belt that should be changed every 60-80,000 miles. Otherwise they're rock solid. I've seen many, many of them make it over 200,000 miles. I've seen two over 300K. Mine have 161 and 168K on them.

The SE is more powerful and has a timing chain that doesn't need replacing. Both models will break exhaust studs, but repair is not that expensive. All Maximas are good cars!

But any car can be abused and you should pay a real mechanic to check it out. Find one that takes into consideration what you're paying for the car and doesn't wexpect it to be pristine. Word to the wisw: Bad brakes and tires can kill you, so make sure they're okay.
