They had two different inline sixes and three different V8s.
250--No good performance parts for the 1981 250. It has the integral head/intake and a bunch of pipes running to the valve cover. Weak motor, trade it for a V8 or a 292.
292--Good performance parts, like 4bbl intake manifolds and headers.
305--Exhaust headers & aluminum intake manifold, get the Q-jet rebuilt by a competent mechanic.
350--Same recommendations as the 305
454--Same recommendations as the 305

Well i had a chevy truck same year ..and first thing i did was replace the factory intake and carb..i put on a 2" edelbroke aluminum intake and a 4 barel holly carb..then i replaced the transmission with a 400 turbo..if you can get one do it..that is about all you can do to that engine without major work..if you have the time and space you can remove the engine and replace the cam and valves and lifters with some highperformance ones..also you can put a NOS system..but i don't recommend it unless you replace the valves and cam..Need help with Numbers on a 1968 Barracuda ? Have Tag.?
Jose P : Hi it could be the rear gears . Find out what rear you have . Once you know the ratio you can adjust from there .. You have a lot of motor with the 350 . A professional tune up may help. ,Or you can go into the engine a cam, headers , tuned exhaust, mass air flow, larger carb., we could go on and on. The amount of things that could be done . Is only controlled by the amount of bucks you want to spend ... I suggest talking to a professional Speed Shop . Get your ideals from the Pro .Map out your plan and go with it ...
