Question:
HI:
I have dodge Caravan 1994 3.3 L. I was told that my transmission is bad a year ago. It is still running good. But at the morning time when I want to start the van some time it does not crank only a little sound of click. Then after 2nd or 3rd time it crank and start fine. Then there are some kind of sounds from crankshaf or under hood while worming up about 2 to 3 minutes.
I want to know what could be wrong when I want to start and it does not crank at all for first or 2nd time. Some time after driving when I parked and wants to start after a while same thing happened. But after sometime 2nd or 3rd time it crank and start fine. I am not feeling any problem with transmission but only one day it was stuck and going back only but not farward. I towed tothe mechanic and he told me transmission is gone.
Toyota becomes the #1 auto maker?
I will appreciated your help. Thanks

It is definitely the starter. Absolutely. The clicking means that the starter is not turning, and if it lights dim only a little this means the battery is good. My bro had a 93 Cherokee that he tried starting it and the starter would only click. He called me up and I brought him a hammer and had him tap the starter a couple of times and it fired right up; This means the bushings are bad in it so it wont turn, just click and when you do it that third time it loosens it up some. Take it in and have them change the starter. The transmission would have nothing to do with this if it is in park. I am 99.9 percent sure this is your problem. Shouldn't me more than an hours worth of labor and mabey 100 dollars for parts. If he is telling you the tranny is bad then he is just trying to get you to give him 3 grand to rebuild it, then tell you that the starter is bad when it is done. He dosent sound very honest to me. Good luck though, whatever happens.
you need a starter it eventually will get worse
