It depends on what your state laws are as far as emmissions go. Straight pipes after the cats don't affect emmissions, only noise level. If you had removed the cats, you would definitely fail. Leaving the cats and straigh piping the thing should be okay, but check your local laws before you do anything though. And if nothing else, get an exhaust cutout, and leave the stock cat-back on there. Then, with the flip of a switch, you can go from noise to street legal.

The mufflers do not affect the emissions, only the cats do. So as far as emissions go, you are fine, now as far as being legal with the increased noise, I don't think that would be legal, may sound good, but not legal.My 88 cherokee 4.0 liter runs rough, like its bogging down?
