Would anyone buy a Renault Clio after seeing watchdog the other night? It's shocking that this problem is causing serious accidents, and that Renault will not even recognise that there is anything wrong!
For those that missed it, the bonnet catch is faulty and the bonnet is liable to fly up and hit the windscreen (smashing it), so that the driver can not see. This could happen on a motorway.
How can i test my fuel pump on a 1995 dodge ram van 2500?
I don't think I'd feel comfortable buying ANY renault car now. Not after seeing their attitude to safety!

I own a 2003 Clio and since hearing this news have been apprehensive about going on the motorway.I had had many problems with this car such as toxic fume warning light, rattling sunroof and interior trim falling off. They are stylish cars, but the build quality needs looking at.
I would advise anyone not to buy a french car and go for a german brand instead. Much more solid and reliable.
Awful isn't it - I saw the story last week but didn't see it this week. I would urge everyone who owns one to go and get it checked out. Make a fuss at your local garage or with Renault Head Office direct. Complain in numbers and they will have to do something. I hope not too many people experience this scary fault. Hope the F1 cars will be OK too!

Personally, any french car is a death trap.! They used to come with Manuals at least and went in to the history books as the thinnest book ever written.get rid of it before it gets rid of you.

I would not entertain any french make car or van. Had bad experiences with brand new company vans. Had a gearbox fall apart after 500 miles, they said it was the way i drive? I been driving for 36 years 10 of for workI have a porsche 928 and I was wondering if I could add an electric supercharger?
speaking to a mechanic he reckons its the cheap metal used to make the bonnet catch ,you need to check its not rusted and keep in well oiled and you should be ok .ive actually got a megane 06 and considering its 5 star rated for safety i dont know how u can say renaults are unsafe .Has no-one ever seen the movie Fight Club? What they do is they investigate the fault and then work out how likely this is to happen. They then work out what they think the average lawsuit would cost them and multiply the figures together. If this costs less than recalling every model affected, then they don't do it!
So if a couple of thousand cars are affected, then why go to the expense and recall a couple of million when you can settle out of court for a few thousand pounds each.
