new air intake is one of the easiest ways to ad a few horses so to speak, eather cold air intake or ram air, after that just start upgrading parts, lighting the car, tuneing, that whole deal..Is the M3 body kit and the woodgrain interior parts available to buy aftermarket for a 1999 BMW?
i own a shop and by adding a good cold air intake to it and a good exhaust system you can help it a lot,but it you try and do to much to it it will just work against it,those aren't the fastest engines around anyway,good luck with it.Weres a good place to get grilles for a chevrolet caprice?

You never mentioned if it was an Automatic or manual. Having owned one of these motors before (I had a 1997 Dodge Neon) I know that a cold air intake and an exhaust header will add about 30 HP to the car. I would recommend you pick up the Ram air cold air intake. It's good for another 3 HP on the top end. If this still is not good enough then you’re looking at tearing in to the motor and changing some things around. Mopar makes a great performance cam shaft for this motor as well as computer upgrades. As well all performance parts be ware that most are not 50 states legal (this means the motor may not pass smog) If you have an automatic you will also want to put in a higher stall speed torque converter (the 3000 stall speed worked awesome for me) As well as changing the final drive ratio to about a 3.4 or 3.5. This will affect your over all mileage however you should be able to just off the line really well with this set up. If it' a manual you will just need to change the final drive. I think stock final on the manual is a 3.11. If you’re not concerned with mileage then changing the final drive is a great option. Can't do too much to that 4 banger to make it fast, especially a plymouth breeze. Maybe nitrous? But you'll probably end up blowing the engine up. A turbo kit maybe?? Just probably not worth the $$$$ to do anything, just save the money that you were going to do mods with and use that to buy a car that has potential to go fast without costing an arm and a leg.More Questions & Answers ...
