Question:
hi, i wanted to know what was the best year for the Ford Taurus SHO. I read that the 1989 model was the fastest, but i also read that the older ones werent that well built. i read that the chasis wasn't stiff enough and stuff like that. thats why i want to know which year was the best one all around.

Where is the fuel filter on a 2002 beetle (gas, r.a.)?
the 1989 was the best year reason, they had manual Tran. and the engine was built by Yamaha motor co, after a couple of years ford started to build there on 24 valve engine the supision did not change it was built real good after 2 years we started putting automatic in the SHO however we did have problems with trans, the motor was to strongI loved these cars, wish I had the chance to own one.
I have a 98 civic where is the parking lamp fuse , what is it named?
SHO models have been adjuncts to the Taurus lineup since the 1989 model in '88. Always niche players, SHOs had their best year in '93, when sales hit nearly 20,000 and accounted for close to 6% of all Taurus sales.
Why are GM cars called Opel in Ireland and Vauxhall in UK?
The best model years for the Taurus SHOs were the 1997-1998 model years with the 3.4L 32-valve Yamaha V8. Those were the most powerful version of the SHO.1997 Oldsmobile bravada where is my fuel filter located at??
i was always told that the older v6 versions where faster than the newer v8 models. i would rather have the v6. there is NO point whatsoever in a 3.4 liter v8. you buy a v8 for torque. and it has no torque. The problem you most likely have been hearing about with the SHO was with the transmissions. They had a very high failure rate. However if they where rebuilt correctly. The transmissions would hang on for quite a long time. A friend of mine had a 1988 SHO. It was quite fast. After it was hit in the rear end he pulled the motor, Harness and computer and put it in his 1935 ford coop. That motor moved that little coop really nice. If it where me and I where to buy the car I would make sure the transmission had been rebuilt by a reputable transmission shop and pick up and 1989 SHO. They where great cars
i had an 89
yes it was fast but i was having problems almost on a daily basis
the automatics are slower than the standards and my suggestion is to do what i did and search for sho forums

The 89 was a fast one but its hard to tell the fastest because as they got newer their were certain upgrades that I think made them faster and more reliable, but I think they are good cars period. The taurus was the best selling for many years. The problems people say they had with them are nothing you want to rely on, because 9 times out of 10 the ones preaching numerous problems are the ones that either bought the car already ran hard, or runs the crap out of the car themselves. Just because a car, any car is built for high performance doesnt mean they are built to have the crap ran out of them. They are still cars, and they still need proper maintinence and care.

It's a ford taurus.1998 Ford Taurus SHO intermittantly will not start or crank.?
The fact that it was a 'sho' probably means that the previous owner (or his kid) has already ragged it out.
