Question:
I am looking into buying a used 3-series (2001 or 2002) with between 50,000 - 75,000 miles. I've heard that BMW's have a lot of problems when they have high mileage. Any suggestions, input, etc??

It isn't the problems with a BMW but the cost of repairing the problems. I've owned them and they are great cars. However they are the most expensive car in the world to maintain. Most parts can only be obtained from a BMW dealer and are very expensive. On some models even simple things like the battery is not available after market and must be obtained from BMW. If you have unlimited funds to maintain one then go for it. However if you don't have unlimited funds you may well find yourself walking while the Beamer sits broken. Is there a trunk release switch in vehicle for 98 bmw 740il?
Bmw's are know to start parting them selves out at about 70,000 miles. you are better off to find one with about 25,000 miles and pay alittle more then sink your hard earned money in to repairs.2004 jeep wrangler RHD conversion?
Power steering pump, water pump will go out before the 100,000 mile mark. Control arms are also a problem. Like any car they have certain issues. My advice is to take the vehicle for a pre-purchase inspection before you buy it.More Questions & Answers ...
