2001 Ford Focus Wagon a couple of questions.?

Question:
I have a 2001 Ford Focus wagon with 81000 miles on it and and recently after towing a trailer a couple of times it has started to make a grinding noise up front on the passenger side under a heavy load wether it be hard acceleration or alot of people in the car and then it will do it at around 75-80 constant no matter what the load, it would probably do it at higher speeds too.

About how much should a 108,000 mile tune up cost for a '93 Honda Accord?

My car also sometimes bounces between gears a lot around 40-50 and a couple times it has even stalled and then sometimes if you go through a reasonable sized puddle I loose all power and the engine starts to rev up so could this be fixed by flushing the transmission fluid?

It could be for a couple different reasons. First of all if you happened to tow that trailer with the overdrive on, thats a big no no. It keeps the engine from doing all the work in the lower gear and puts all the pressure on the transmission. So if the towing was done with the tranny in O/D then probably something internally in the transmission is bad. But also the bouncing between gears and high rev could be cause by one of speed sensors in the tranny. So my recommendations on the transmission is take it to a local trusted company that deals strickly in transmissions. I really doubt that the grinding noise is the CV axle, It would do it more around turns and click then grind. But it isn't entirely out of the question, but the odds are its something in the transmission that is wore out or bad.

What are the best 4 cylinder cars?

The engine stalling... I'd get the tranny fixed first and definitely get the valve cover gasket and theromstat housing replaced, it could have led to a blown head gasket if the car ever got hot, or even with the lack of antifreeze being able to get in the engine and if it was leakin oil as well, as you can tell these definitely aren't good signs.
