What does bmw stand for?

No moreso than any other car. If you take a look at most cars, you'll find that the engine is in an enclosed and usually locked compartment. The difference with the Boxster is the compartment's location and ease of access... otherwise it is an engine bay like any other car.

Neither long distance driving or especially hot weather should stress the cooling system. If you are planning to track the car in a very hot environment you may need to take some extra steps to improve cooling, but even here, the basic cooling can often be enough since the higher speeds also improve airflow over the radiator (additional cooling though can be an issue in these circumstances for the older air cooled Porsches).

The Boxsters (and 996+ 911's) have the same horizontally-opposed type engine, but are water cooled, not air-cooled as they were for 30 years. As long as the cooling system is working properly and the cooling vents are not blocked, these cars should not overheat.
