You have to love the illuminated dash, steering wheel controls-(you can control the stereo on the steering wheel among other things), and it's a very roomy car. If you know anything about Volvo's, Mazda's design was influenced by it.

It's just another small Japanese (imposter) car that's trying to make a sporty statement, with a bunch of goofy lights on the radio, and all kinds of other silly and needless additions. It's the same platform as the Volvo S40, and the Ford Focus! (Bet very few of you knew that). So, if you want the same performance, platform and a lot less gadgetry, go for the Focus.... 5 think it's better in general anyhow. subtle lamp compartment. have to try to feel it. if u had test drove it, then, forget what other say. what you think and feel is important. after all it is your car, u gonna use it, and definitely u'll pay for the expenses.
