Is it automatic or manual. Manual transmissions are usually filled underneath the car. Usually a plug is removed and fluid is squeezed in until it starts to flow out the hole. Automatic transmisssions almost always have a tube that runs into the engine compartment. It is usually near the fire wall. Remember when you check the fluid level, make sure the engine is running and the transmission is warm and on flat ground or you will not get an accurate reading.Im thinking on getting a 1995 GMC Jimmy, very sharp, 20 inch chrome wheels,?
if your not finding the dipstick tube then more then likely your dealing with the 4T60-E or 4T65 series transmission. some of these models were a sealed unit. there is a way to fill them and check the level. on the front side top of the transmission theres a little bity fill cap that is red. unscrew it and stop there. next step is to have the car up in the air just a little so you can get to the drip hole (as i call it anyway). that is located on the differential cover on the transaxle. it should be a little 8 or 10mm hex head plug. remove that. more then likely your going to loose some fluid on that step.. let the vehicle back down start it up. you then fill the unit back with oil until it starts to run out the little drip hole. now is the tricky part. put the plug back in while its running. if you dont have access to an over head lift or the use of 4 car stands its a pain in the rear. hope this helps and good luck to you.More Questions & Answers ...
