Start out with a new filter and ad 5 qtsWait a min. and check the dipstick as it reads add 1 qt and depending on how low it is on the dipstick add some to bring it up to the mark. DO NOT OVERFILL!! As this is worse than running a qt low. Reason being the oil foams up and won't flow while the crankshaft is spinning.
