If there is a warning light on the dashboard it will mean that there is a problem with the airbag safety circuit and potentially could be an issue in a crash. That said if you can find the fuse that controls the air bags, pull it out and the light should go out. Go to yahoo and type something exactly what you did for your headline and I am sure you can find a site that can show you how to turn it off. I had to do this for my 2001 honda civic. For my car, under the dash by the data port there is a two prong clip plugged into a "dummy" harness which just means its clipped in just to hold it there. I had to unclip it and place a jumper wire in it then turn the ignition to ON. The SRS came on for about 3 secs then went off, I then unhooked the wire, I will come back on then within 4 secs rehook the wire and it will go off then within 4 secs unhook again and it blinked twice as that was that. Just a word of warning if you are going to mess about with an airbag... they are a pyrotechnic device!! Also if you don't fix it properly and there is an accident you will be the one with a dented head.... If you went to a main dealer it will be expensive, however why don't you look for a specialist Volkswagen repairer who would probably be able to quote you a lot less labour.More Questions & Answers ...
