Is it possible tp over stress spring steal without it fracturing? Like a tortion bar. Do they stretch?

It could be several things. Most likely it is a vacuum leak. When you get this code it means there is air entering the intake after the mass air flow sensor ( MAF ). It could also be a faulty MAF sensor. Is there a hissing sound under the hood? Check to see if all the vacuum hoses under the hood are connected and free of leaks, cracks, and other damage. Check the intake tube from the throttle body to the air filter to see if any hoses or tubes have come loose. I highly doubt it is 2 faulty oxygen sensors, each bank has 1 oxygen sensor to monitor the oxygen content in the exhaust. However, it is possible that the oxygen sensors have become faulty as a result of this incorrect fuel mixture or just worn out and may need to be replaced. The oxygen sensors are most likely not the culprit of the real problem. Also check to see if the intake manifold gaskets (upper plenum to lower plenum and lower plenum to cylinder head) are leaking. *A common problem if your engine is a 4.0 single overhead cam engine.*
After a repair is made disconnect the battery for 10 min. This will erase the PCM stored memory and will re-learn its fuel injection strategy. Hope this helps.

What is a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge?

one cause could be that you have a vaccum leak...which will cause more air to enter the system...but it will also cause the computer to read a lean code then dump more fuel...which in turn will give you a higher than normal idle. It could be your o2 sensor(s). Many vehicles now have 2 or more 02 sensors...but the code should come up as the 02 sensor as well. the other may be your map sensor...but again the code should come up as that. I'd look for a vaccum leak. To do this get some carburator cleaner and spray around the intake...and all of the vaccum hoses...if it stabelizes the idle then you have found your problem.

ITS A FORD problem solved.
that was rude, it is prob. the o2 sensor.Clear codes first then wait for new code. After prob is fixed dont forget to clear the codes again or they will return.

What's the website to get grills, bodykits and various accessoris for your car?

I agree with kenneth s and black91stang. If you have the 4.0L SOHC V6, the common cause is a rotted PCV hose at the back of the upper intake, and/or the upper and lower intake rubber o-ring style gaskets. This particular engine is extremely sensitive to vacuum leaks. Also like the other two have already suggested, it's highly unlikely the O2 sensors will be the cause. Remember one thing about those kids at Auto Zone, they are NOT mechanics. They will try to sell you every part they can, just to make a sale at your expense.
