Nothing to do with a Map sensor (this one doesn't have one) and the MAF sometimes will set a p0174 with it but not always.. and it's not always the sensor...
How can I make my Grand Prix faster?
What the code means is this side is seeing too much air and after the car has added all the fuel it could, it's still seeing the air.
I've seen gaskets cause this code, o2 sensors, clogged fuel filters, fuel pumps, the list goes on and on... It will take a professional to give you an idea on what it is.. as the engines in them things always sound like they have a air leak (but it's the characteristic of the engine)...

P0171= System lean on bank #1.Are you getting a P0174 (system lean bank #2) as well? If not, check the following items: Bank #1 upstream O2 sensor for proper switching.
Vacuum leak on bank #1 lower intake gaskets.
Note: Bank #1 = the passenger side bank of cylinders, meaning cylinders #1, #2, and #3.
Hope this helps.
P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1)
As to fix and cost, depends on what is making it run too lean. Get it to your mechanic. NOT a good idea to run around with a check engine light on for months you know.
here's a link on ebay motors Ford forum that will explain it.
