If the inboard pads on your front disc brakes wear out faster than the outboard.?

Question:
My inboard pads wore out completely and the outboards look like new.Do I need to replace the calipers?

Answers:

What does sc/t stand for?

the brake calipers should slide freely under braking to get even presure on both pads. apparently yours are not. check your mounting hardware should have some type of anti-sieze compound on to keep this problem from returning.

As the previous answerer said, your calipers are likely seized. I am not referring to the piston part of the caliper that actually applies the braking pressure. Rather, the outboard pad holder is connected to the inboard with some manner of device that allows them to slide freely independant of each other. I recently had to take my calipers (Taurus SHO) apart to free these 'sliders' up. It was not an easy job as it should have been done much sooner. but it is possible. A very good penetrating oil and a source of heat are effective tools to free them up. Lock em in your vice and work them until they are freed up. Once they are free, use a heat resistant anti-seize compound to keep them moving freely longer and check them regularly.
