to stop your odometer only on that vehicle you must first remove the instrument cluster.

on the circuit board you will see three main ic's.The biggest ic keeps the odometer mileage in it.look at that ic and you will see many , many legs coming off it.

Starting at bottom of cluster; count up 17 legs. unsolder that leg from the circuit board.

Now the ic will not store any more mileage.
BUT BE WARNED. The main ecu also stores your vehicles mileage. This can not be stopped. So when you hook that leg up. You must change the mileage in the ecu to match the cluster.

You do know that's illegal... right?car has a digital odometer and the computer keeps track of mileage. basically there is no legal, and more importantly EASY way to stop the ODO. try and keep it under the mileage as best you can or be prepared to buy it at the end of the lease to avoid mileage penalties. you don't wanna be charged with odometer fraud, the cops don't look too nicely on that.

Dont get me started on all the illegal things these auto companies are doing including ripping us consumers off big time. so i say heck yea to tripping up that odometer. the dash went together so it WILL come apart easily. there should only be about a dozen screws to take out with your phillips screwdriver. {TIP: buy yourself a $10 lexus handbook(it will show you exactly how the dash goes together), and also set the vehicle's dash out in the sun for a couple hours to make the dash more resistant to snaping any crappy plastic parts.} Now when you get it off you will see multiple wires - you are looking for a purple wire. the rest is pretty self explainatory. should take only an hour. just reverse process before you trade it in. hope this helps you

depending on the motor that you have, I may be able to help. I had a toyota avalon. I was told by a toyota master mechanic that all you need to do is remove an electrical plug on the center back of the engine (let it cool off before reaching back there). Once removed, the speedometer and the odometer will not function, and the check engine light will come on. The tachometer will still work, and you can calibrate your speed using the tachometer before you remove the plug. Upon placing the plug back on, the check engine light will stay one for several days. Then it will just go off, and nothing else happens, other that you have managed to "stop the hands of time for a while". Whatever you do, don't take the dashboard apart, you will just make a mess of an other wise very nice car.More Questions & Answers ...
