Question:
Has anyone had or heard of problems with the ABS on the Ford Freestar. I keep getting warning lights for it and the brakes but the mechanics can't find anything and when they hook it up to the diagnostic computer it doesn't register anything.

I own a shop, and can tell you this; Check your brake fluid first thing, and top it off to make sure that is not the problem. The usual problem I have found with ABS brakes is the wheel sensors. They are nothing but a little generator that emits a small electrical pulse when you spin the wheel. Sometimes the sensors will get mud, or brake dust, and dirt on them so bad that they can't make the pulse. You can use a multi-meter to check the sensors with. Unplug the sensor, and hook the multi-meter to the two connectors that come from the sensor. Set your meter to read the lowest AC voltage that is on the scale. Now, spin the wheel and you should get a reading. If not then you have found the problem. Check all four wheels, and take a good long look at the wires that go to the sensors to make sure they aren't broke anywhere. Once you are sure the wheels are sending signals to the computer, you should be ok. If not then follow the wires all the way back to the computer to find where the culprit is. There won't be any codes in the computer if the sensors are bad or not working, as the computer only thinks the vehicle is stopped and the wheel isn't turning. I don't know why they didn't program it into the computer to tell when a wheel sensor is bad, but they didn't. Go figure? Also; on each wheel is a small wheel with teeth on it that turn in front of the sensor, and as each tooth on the wheel passes the sensor, the sensor generates a pulse. Make sure the wheel is ok, and not missing teeth.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!

Technology Ford isn't really good with that. It may be a wiring problem. Just be careful and use a threshold braking technique as opposed to slamming on the brakes.
