Do NOT buy the newer SAABs. There's a reason they're resell value is so poor. For one, parts are very expensive and good luck finding a reputable mechanic to work on one. Ever since GM has gotten their hands on SAAB they have been piss poor. I almost bought a Viggen convertible. It was a beautiful car, but after some research and talking to other owners I backed out. There are better cars out there for the price with far better build quality and cheaper parts. You will regret it if you buy a newer SAAB. The engines are notorious for seizing after only 80k miles from sludge buildup.Well i own a Infiniti Q45 and wanted to know where i can get my carpet done in southern california?
I LOVED my Saab..but husband fell asleep at the wheel and ran into the side of a bridge, the drivers seat went all the way into the rear of the car, roof was crushed, he can out without a scratch!! Bought mine on e bay three years ago. Fastest car I've ever driven, loads of power, handles ok, brakes are good. Only thing I think is crap is the all-round visiblity, window arches seem about 3 ft thick. Hard on petrol but that's the way I drive it, you can get 35 to the gallon if you go easy.Can bad O2 sensors cause car to backfire?
I drive a 99 V6 turbo with about 165k miles on it. Mileage on highways is around 28 to 30, in town... 16 maybe. It is safe, handles great, unbelievable turbo-boost, good brakes, comfortable. Downside: keep up on maintenance! 4-cylinders are sensitive to head gaskets and waterpumps if driven hard, V6 needs a 700USD timing belt replacement every 40k. If you can afford that - in my opinion the best european car I have driven so far in that class. Would never buy a Volvo again!Saab's are great if you know how to tinker on a car. I've had 8 classic Saab 900's and 7 of them have gone over 300,000 miles. They are notorious for little problems that seem like big problems...but if you are expereinced with a wrench and are mechanically inclined...almost any Saab problem can be easily fixed by the at-home mechanic. (Certified Saab mechanics are really expensive)

I am speaking of course of Saab's when they were built by Saab. Now that GM has them (1999 and up) they are pretty much crap. The new 9-3 I believe shares a subaru platform which means it's probably decent, most of the others are either a chevy mailbu or a chevy trailblazer with a Saab logo. Hopefully GM will sell Saab off to a company that appreciates the brand...otherwise I doubt Saab will be around much longer.

I dont think saabs are very good cars at all. I owned a 1999 9-3 convertible and just sold it. It was in the shop about once every two months. We did however buy the 100,000 mile extended warranty which paid for itself the first visit to the dealership. Just about everthing went wrong with that car from the transmission brackets breaking off to the turbo going out. If I were you i would either buy new or buy another brand. For the extra couple grand buy the warranty. It will save you loads in the long run.More Questions & Answers ...
