Jaguar heater?
I own a transmission shop, and I can tell you this; The transmission doesn't have much to do with horsepower, but it does have everything to do with the transfer of torque, and torque is what moves the vehicle. How much torque is applied to the ground is determined by two factors, the transmission, and the differential. The ratio of the gears (in both) determines how much torque, and when this torque is applied to the ground. The transmission is not in direct relationship to the horsepower of the engine, but it may or may not allow it to apply full torque to the ground for many reasons. In order to fix this problem you have, one must first have an idea of what the vehicle is doing, or not doing. If the transmission is slipping, or if something is binding, you could be loosing a big percentage of the torque that is going to the ground. An example of this is; If the engine is reeving up to higher than normal rpm's, but the vehicle is moving slower and slower progressively, then it would be safe to say the transmission is slipping, thus loosing its torque to ground ability. If the transmission has had some type of mechanical failure allowing the gears to bind (such as a snap ring came off the main shaft that holds the output components in place) it would not put torque to the ground, or at least not full torque. How to fix this must be determined by the cause of the loss in torque. If the engine has some type of failure, either in its mechanical and/or electrical systems, then the problem is within the engine components itself, and not the transmission. Take it to a qualified service center, and have it checked out, get an estimate on the repairs, and then determine if repairing it is the route you wish to take.
Glad to help out, good luck!
