you only have to worry after 100k miles. boxters can't stand up to the carreras and 911s but they're alright. brand new boxters are around 50k so if you want to save another 10 grand I'd get a new one?

Considering that the car has 38,000 miles and has 3 years of usage. I would probably make an offer of 27,000 (27K). The probability of having to incur in an expensive repair is very high. The warranty is about to expire. Be prepare to spend $3,500 in tuning the car and changing all the rubber replaceable parts, including cooler.
