What does the BOV do?

What's a "sexier" car - the Honda Civic (sedan) or Mazda 3?

A BOV, or Blow-off Valve is a mechanism that is sometimes used on turbocharged cars. A turbocharger pressurizes the air before it gets let into the engine. The more you open the throttle and rev up the engine, the more boost it will make.. the BOV comes in when you let off the gas. You don't want the intake pressure to stay high when you aren't using any gas. The BOV opens when you lift off the gas and vents the extra pressure back out. Sometimes it vets it straight to the air, this is known as an atmosphereic BOV. The other vents it back into the exhaust.

Has anyone driven a newer model Dodge Viper (V 10) and if so would you like share your experience?

1.8T engines use a DV or diverter valve. There are half a dozen names for it but this is the most popular. As the previous poster mentioned the BOV vents excess pressure into the atmosphere. A DV however redirects the pressure back into the intake. Audi/VW vehicles equipped with 1.8T engines typically do not respond well to blow off valves.
