On average....with no service or maybe being serviced once... it may last 60,000 miles roughly... more than that if it is regularly maintained..jeez i dont know ah im guessing around 125k to 150 tops
That depends on what you do to the transmission. In most cases with people's driving habits the trans will last longer then the engine. Just remember to change lube reguallary, keep the trans as cool as possible, and limit the towing to as little as possible. It wasn't built to do that. Also don't allow yourself to change from Drive to reverse/Reverse to drive with the car still moving in to opposite direction that your shifting to. This puts stress on your transmission.

Just last month I sold my 1998 Plymouth Voyager. The ONLY problem it had was an oil leak around several gaskets including the head gaskets. My mechanic never knew for sure what might have caused so many leaks to develop during the last few years, so I just tolerated it because the repairs would have been too costly. If I didn't live in a home development with rules against autos leaking fluids, I surely would have kept that great old van. By the way ... It had 210,000 miles on it when I sold it. Yes, I said two hundred, ten thousand. My friends say I got my money's worth. But deciding to sell it was a hard choice to make because as I said, the ONLY problem it had was the oil leak.

My Voyager had the 3.0 liter engine with the three-speed transmission. A friend said I was lucky to have gotten the three-speed transmission because many of the four-speed transmissions died quite early. I had heard about that problem, but cannot say for sure whether the '98 Caravan/Voyager transmissions were affected. What I mean is that it could have been a problem with other Chrysler products or it may have been in models older or newer than the '98s. I just don't recall which models/years were affected by that problem.

I would probably give it no more than 150K miles. My friend has a 2003 Chrysler Voyager with 131K miles on it and his tranny seems to kick while downshifting. I haven't noticed that while driving his car before so it might need repairs pretty soon. However, I am still surprised that it lasted this long. As for your Caravan I assume it shouldn't last any longer than I've already mentioned. But be proud of it, after all most Chrysler trannys don't even make it to 100K.
dodge transmissions I have heard are not the greatest, I have a buddy who's wife bought a new one a couple years ago and the tranny needed some servicing at only 20,000 miles... then it worked fine until it hit the 60,000 mark... that's when he decided enough was enough & traded it in... he didn't even tow anything with it, it was just used to haul thier 3 kids around... you might have better luck, but I wouldn't tow anything....
