I did this swap about 9 years ago to an 89 convertible (that I still have). My donor car was an 87 LX 5.0. This swap will be time consuming and not cheap. I hate to say it this way but it might just be cheaper to buy a 5.0 car. To do the swap requires the motor (obviously), the trans, the rear axle (the 7.5 won't last long with a V-8), the suspension (unless you don't mind the soft 4 cyl suspension), the brakes (V-8 brakes are bigger), the master cylinder (its bigger), computer (another obvious), main wiring harness (to run the V-8), the dash wiring harness (you can use the 4 cyl harness but expect some glitches from it), the fuel pump (might as well upgrade to a better pump), mass air and other under hood items. It really is quite a bit of work. Plus you will spend money doing any maintenance (like painting the engine bay or replacing old gaskets) and replacing broken bolts, etc. Over all, it would be much easier and possibly cheaper to just get a good 5.0 car. For the time & money you would invest in the swap (done right), you could even possibly find a 5.0 with some parts already on it.89 Ford Escort Solenoid. Why it keep shorting out?
