I have a 1990 Nissan Quest van which jerks when I first put my foot on the gas pedal?

would a broken timing belt on a 1996 dodge avenger 2.5 6cyl. bend the vavles?

Could be the throttle position sensor out of adjustment or failed,or binding gas cable from the pedal to the throttle housing,dirt accumilation on or in the throttle body,I would check all of the above
