the current (997) turbo comes with a damned good warrenty, so reliabilty issues shouldnt be a problem. they are also very reliable in general.2000 vw beetle engine revs but car inches forward?
the old (996) turbo, built up to 2005, also had very few problems.

Generally the turbos are very reliable because theyve had time to sort out the issues in the platform from the base 911 which comes out earlier.

and no changes are planned for 08 that i know of. The turbo S may be coming out though. A GT2 i think is due in 08 sometime too.

But heres some good advice if you buy a 911 turbo: Join your local Porsche club of america, and do some of the Drivers education events. The 911 turbos are far far faster than you can ever appreciate on the street, and are way more capable than youll ever be able to drive it. These DE events teach you how to really use your car, and find out just how fast they are (which is WAY faster than youll initially think). Not only that, but it could also save your life. People without track experiance just dont have the skills needed for an unintuitive 480 HP car like the turbo.

There are not any specific issues I've heard of on the 996 Turbos (which were made up until 2005), or the 997 (introduced in 2006). The 997 has some styling differences, though the main differences are under the skin: the 997 is an evolution of the earlier car, featuring many small improvements, that ultimately add up to making a much better all around car (and the 996 Turbo was a pretty good car to start off).What is the firing order of a 1967 mustang 287 v-8?
As for the 2008? There will most likely be some changes to standard features and maybe some other small upgrades. Though exactly what won't be known for sure until Porsche announces the details or makes the car available.
