midgits are cool in a very dated sort of way you have to love the car, reguard it as an expensive toy, and have a more reliable mode of transport available [this may mean a bycycle]
a well used mazda mx5 miata with 200k miles on it will still do everytrhing any mg could possibly hope to do on it's best day although without the "charm" of stuck gauges, knobs that fall off , lights that don't, heaters/defrosters that only work above 79 degrees F. and the smell of mildew and rot.
