Z71 is off-road package. The basic difference is Z71 mostly comes with 4wd and if not has limited slip differential. It also has slightly better suspension.

The Z71 is the off road package the Z66 is the premium on road package. The engine and most features are similar however the Z71 will have skid plates and will be a 4wd. They both should have locking differentials.
