My dodge truck does not slip into gears correctly?

Question:
my truck is not shifting to gears correctly, when it is in park it's actually in reverse,and i have to pull the shifter all the way down right to the DRIVE. why is this hahappening, what should i do to fix this problem(Dodge 1500 ram 98')

could have a motor mount broke or weak and that outs the linkage in a bind or out od adjustment..so check your motor mount and replace it if that's the problem then reset your linkage
