i was wondering about putting pontiac heads on a fresh 406. are these bolt on or do you need to buy aftermarket or do a bunch of machine work for them to fit? If we not run some we wont to buy some world heads. what would you recommend. we are runnging 10.8:1 ratio with 64cc. we like the sportsmans 2 or the motown.. thanks for your time *tyler*

I assume you're building a Chevy SB 400 thats been bored 30 over? That will make a 406. The traditional Pontiac parts from '79-earlier will not fit a chevy engine. There were some aftermarekt chevy heads marked "pontiac" that were meant for big block chevy engines, not Pontiac.Sportsmans, Dart, Edelbrock all make good aluminum heads for SBC. You can run 1/2 point to 1 point higher compression with aluminum vs iron heads due to how aluminum pulls heat from the chamber. Head selection depends on what the engine's intended use is, and the budget.
