Question:
My 1997 Ford Taurus acts like it has bad brake shoes or rotars - including steering wheel shimmey when stopping. The car is in great shape (85K) and was gift. The giftor said the shoes are relatively new (less than 10K) and the rotars have been turned recently but it may have been in his garage all winter (he is a snowbird) so they may be warped. Is it brake rotars, senors or ABS problems?

I got a 93 civic brake problem?
sounds like your rotors are warpedThe rotors are warped or have hot spots replace them.
Which car iz better. rolls-royce or a lamborghini?
Usually a shimmy when stopping is from rotors that have warped.. any kind of moisture that gets on a hot rotor can warp it and cause this..I'd check for the rotors rewarping first (as I've had some turned and they come back warped again soon afterwards).. as most didn't have ABS back then.. only after I would rule out base stuff would I go for the electrical such as the ABS
98 caddy sls. how do you remove a rack/pinion? from the side or the bottom/remove the A frame?
Most likely rotors...I have owned a couple fords and they all had the same problem. They arent too expensive so your best bet would be to buy both pads and rotors. Do it yourself or have a friend do it because mechanics will charge a couple hundred dollars. You may want to check and make sure your tires are in good shape also. But you say it shakes when you are stopping so brakes are most likely the problem.Looking for a low profile rear spoiler for a 86 mercedes 560sl?
rotors dont warp from sitting..they warp from rapid heating and cooling...any good garage can put a run out gauge on rotors to see..I never turn rotors i always replace them.. the price differnce is minimal ..[labor is main cost] and turned is never like new.More Questions & Answers ...
