GM recently re-badged the Holden Monero as a Pontiac GTO, and it bombed miserably in the US because the name really pissed off Pontiac's purist enthusiasts. Other than that it was (and is) a really great performance car. If it was just called a Monero it would have sold like hotcakes.

I suspect Olds enthusiasts (with Cutlass's, F-85s, 442s, RocketV8s, etc) would have the same resentment; and they are already sour from GM castrating the Olds brand for decades and finally killing it after they had made it so unprofitable.

I think GM could benefit by bringing some Holden models to the U.S. but they need to be careful how they market them and I don't think they need a whole new brand here.
