Chevy Venture Key?

Question:
Can I take just my key to the dealer to get a new one made and programmed or do they need the actual vehicle there also?

Answers:

How do you change a Fuel Filter on a 2001 chevy Blazer ?

You do need the van to do this. What they will do is use your old key ,turn it on part way(without starting),then use your new key & repeat & then start. It only takes about a minute to set up, but can be a pain if not done right the first time. Of course it depends on the year too,97 & 98 didn't have to be programmed(you can tell by the black part of the key,it was either hard plastic or the newer ones were softer).
Good Luck!

Sports Car Help...?

i think and dont quote me on this you do need to take the vehicle in because the code is not only on the key but on the car as well.

Is it possible to swap out a standard transmission in a '04 TJ for an automatic transmission?

To cut the key you just need the other key. To program it, you will need the van. Don't let the dealer program it for you. The instructions are in your owners manual. All you do is put the good key in the ignition turn on the van, turn it off and remove the key, then insert the new key and turn on the van and turn it off and it should then be programmed. The dealer will charge you 1/2 hour labor for this simple process.
