I was just looking for some auto enthusiasts or people who actually know their auto knowledge... how much would it cost in your opinions (a rough estimate) to have a new header installed on a 1995 Ford Probe GT?
Where can i find an header exhaust system?
To explain further, when I start my car, the engine tends to run hot, my brother said its because the header gasket in the back near the exhaust was cracked or busted and can be either shaved down and put back on or whatever. I figured I'd get a whole new one... does this sound like he's right. I mean, the engine runs but yesterday when I started it up for the first time in a year and a half just about the exhaust was blowin out like a white steam type smoke... once again, my brother said that since the header gasket is cracked, water is getting into the exhaust.
Do any car companies make a hybrid Wagon or Minivan?

ok a header would be an exhaust manifold here in the states.I think you mean head gasket.
I would charge about 15 hours labor plus parts. being a dohc motor you really cant mill the head, so if its warped out of spec you would need to buy a new one. Without knowing the condition of the car its hard to give you a price. A rough guess is 2500-3500 to repair and that 2.5l motor sucks to work on

If you are blowing white smoke, this sounds like a head gasket leak, not an exhaust manifold (header) gasket leak. If it runs hot then this is surely most likely the case. Only a rip off artist would charge 15 hours to do heads on that car. It is really about a 10 hour job. Also, if the heads are not warped TOO bad, you can mill them flat. A good machine shop can do this.

All in all, on average, an hour of labor is about 100 bucks. So figure 1000 just in labor, plus the head gasket set, which will come with exhaust manifold and intake manifold gaskets, among other things. Should be around 1100-1200 bucks to fix it. That's my estimate. I work on cars all day every day so I know the going rate, and I am familiar with that motor as well. (I'm a Mazda technician, and your car is basically a Mazda MX-6).
