Question:
The heat acts in a simiar way and seems to have started around the the time I had to add stop leak to the radiator. Shortly befor all of this I changed the thermostat after the original failed , causing it to overheat and of course warped a cylinder head. I replaced all that. On top of that, the truck has started burning a lot oil since replacing the head. Any ideas?

as for the oil usage-- could be the manifold gasket not sealing correctly--sucking oil from the lifter and push tube area into the cylinders, bad valve seals on the new head, or a scuffed piston ring when you over heated it.

i own a repair shop ,and its probably a little low on freon is whats causing the air to do this,as to your oil problem,it must have gotten pretty hot for it to start using oil like that,it sounds like your going to be needing an engine before long,id check in to getting a good used one for it,but have the freon checked for the air,and the stop leak you added to it,that's the worst thing you could have done to that truck,you,ll not have very good heat ,because that stuff will stop a heater core up in no time,good luck hope some of this helps.Unfortunatly, your Truck sounds like it's been through some bad crap.

It sounds like the repair that was made to your Engine was not correctly done. And if it was done right, then your Engine may have a Permanent problem.

HOWEVER, you should have your Radiator Flushed & Refilled. That Stop Leak could screw-up your Coolent flow, and cause your Engine to Overheat!! Thus, causing the heat to not blow out Hot!! Repair the Leak (If you still have one).

As for your A/C goes, it sounds like you need to add some Freon. It is Possible that your Battery needs Replaced, OR your Alternator. This could Cause your A/C to Not Blow cold when Stopped.

As for your Engines Sake, I would go Buy some Lucas Oil Stablizer, and put a 1/2 Quart in the Oil. This should Help your engine out Alot!!

Flush & Refill Radiator (AntiFreeze)
Get a can of 134a Freon, and Add Freon to A/C
Check Battery & Alternator - Replace if Necissary
Get some Lucas Oil Stablizer, and put 1/2 Quart in Engine
It sounds like your electric fan or fan clutch is bad and you have little air flowing thru your condenser

I think I answered that Q. few days ago, with the a/c: your condenser fan motor is not working so when you stop, the flow of air coming through the grill stops and the condenser get hot, need to replace the condenser fan motor, the fan should an engages at the same time that the compressor. The other stuff I won't even address, anybody who add stop leak to an engine deserve to be hang by their feet and be left there for a week, I hope I was of any help.note: after replacing the fan motor check the fuse for the fan cond. motor. and you need to remove the freon to replace the motor, when you start doing it you'll know what I mean
