First of all is it a good idea to put subwoofer in a hatchback where people can see them?? Also for the Golf GL what type and size subwoofer do you suggest ( I was going to go with a JL Audio W7 8 inch)? and is the stock audio system on the GL good? Please Help

I have a 94 tercel and the 10" rockford fosgate P1 sub i got in the back is really good, great sound and its pretty inexpensive, for the JL ur getting a brand name, they are good subs but a sub is a sub. The JL is also gonna be more power hungry which means a more expensive amp, and about hiding them u can try to do a custom enclosure or u can just cover them up. The sizes are for different kinds of music, 8's and 10's are good for anything with a fast beat like techno. 12's and up are good for anything with hard hitting base that is long and drawn out like rap. NEVER UNDER POWER A SUB ITS WORSE THAN OVERPOWERING IT!i have a 2003 Jetta (i know, i have a trunk) and got a Basslink from Infinity. it's a powered 10" subwoofer with a passive radiator.

I have the Monsoon system in my car, so i have a small factory amp in the trunk. i spliced into the wires going into the amp and ran them to a line out converter that i tucked away behind the trunk panels. i ran all the wires (power, remote turn on, ground, RCA input from line out converter) through the chrome tie down on the left side of the trunk and was able to keep it very clean looking.

It sounds great with the seats up, rounds out the music quite nicely and gives it a nice bump on music with heavier bass. when the seat is down, i have to turn the bass down so it doesnt rattle my brain...i'm not a huge fan of earth shaking bass, but the basslink can do that too (you would never guess by looking at it).
I paid $127 for it on ebay, and spent another 80 or so on power and ground wires, platinum connectors, the line out converter and the RCA wires. The Basslink 2 has more power and a square 10" woofer (more speaker surface area), but costs more.
