Magnum is Mopars name for it's high torque / high horsepower engines. They switched in the mid nineties by putting in roller cam and lifters in their 3.9 V6, 5.2 V8, and 5.8 V8 motors, thereby increasing horsepower. Ford soon followed, and General Motors last.
